DOTr Sec. Dizon inspects MRT-3 after Holy Week maintenance

Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon inspected MRT-3 operations to ensure passenger flow remains manageable as the line resumes service, April 21.

Sec. Dizon, who was joined by Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda, Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan, and MRT-3 General Manager Michael Capati, surveyed the passenger flow at North Avenue Station, before boarding the train going to Santolan Station.

During the inspection, Secretaries Dizon and Aguda explored the possibility of providing Wi-Fi access for commuters, with MRT-3 being considered as the pilot line for the policy.

GM Capati expressed support for the proposal, which complements existing efforts of the DOTr and MRT-3 to enhance commuter experience, including extended operating hours and the deployment of four-car trains to increase the line capacity.

MRT-3 resumed full operations on April 21 after a successful maintenance of all its subsystems over the Holy Week.
